Purpose for the job:

The purpose of this position is to strengthen collaborations with key stakeholders in and outside the country and provide an interface for strategic resource mobilisation, communications/ advocacy, knowledge exchange and innovative multi-stakeholder partnerships to reach strategic results for children.

Under the leadership of the representative, the incumbent of the position, will be responsible for enhancing multi-stakeholder and innovative partnerships, linking with the private sector, public donors, financial institutions, NatComs and civil society to leverage resources for children. He/She will work in close articulation with the Communications area and the Deputy Representative to enhance a strong focus on programme results, advocacy and social mobilization strategies, using a variety of partnership platforms. More specifically, the key areas of work are:

Multi-stakeholders partnerships development and advocacy;
Children’s rights and business (CRB);
Donor relations and resource mobilization.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

Multi-stakeholders partnerships development and advocacy

The country office’s partnerships and resource mobilization strategy is kept up-to-date and in line with regional and global priorities; implemented and monitored effectively and efficiently to leverage resources and achieve strategic results for children;
The country office’s partnerships base is strengthened and contributes to achieving programme results. This includes new business and innovating partnerships with local innovators, youth organizations, NGOs, cultural and religious organizations, the private sector, local media and academia.
UNICEF’s visibility and influence with existing and prospective partners and key stakeholders are increased through strategies for engagement and attractive communication products.
Children’s rights and business

The country office’s Child Rights and Business strategy constitutes a main advocacy tool towards achieving programmatic results, through advocacy, C4D and strategic alliances with the Government, industry bodies, national think tanks on CSR and civil society.
The knowledge and expertise of relevant business industries’ impact on Child Rights is enhanced and the implementation of Child Rights and Business Principles (CRBP) effective in key companies.
Industry-wide and multi-stakeholder initiatives on children’s rights are established that leverage resources and results for children.
Donor relations and resource mobilization

The Country Office has developed and started to implement a strategy for fundraising from individual donors using different channels such as corporate pathway to pledge (CPP).
The funding base with National Committees, public and private donors is expanded, and resources ensured to achieve the planned results of the programme.
Areas of integration between partnerships, Child Rights and Business and programmes are identified and opportunities to harness the private and public sector financial contributions to UNICEF programmes through supports to implementing partners, grants and corporate pathways to pledge are generated.
Strategic liaison with donors and the development of tools for resource mobilization are ensured.
Effective and efficient support to the programme teams in developing and finalizing donor proposals and reporting, to help ensuring harmonization and quality.
Impact of Results

The Partnerships Specialist is a seasoned professional in the field of external relations, in particular partnership development, Child Rights and Business and resource mobilization. The quality of work and external communications/relations performed by the specialist directly impacts on the overall reputation of UNICEF. S/He follows established procedures but is expected to make recommendations on strategies for engagement, knowledge development and communications products. The Partnership Specialist is accountable for quality, substantive input and ability to project a competent and trusted image of UNICEF to partners.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Advanced university degree in international development, public affairs, international relations, political science or other relevant field.
At least five years of progressively responsible professional experience in external relations, liaison and/or any resource-mobilization related activities, preferably with the private sector in an international organization is required. Experience with individual fundraising is an asset.
Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
Fluency in English/Spanish is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian) or a local language is an asset.
